Default Transferring teacher registration

Can you transfer your teacher registration from one state to another or do you have to reapply in full again.

Yes, you do have to reapply for another state.

However most states do have an agreement with each other, so think its supposed to be an easier process.

You will need to check with each state registration website to check. But you will have to pay a fee and do an application.

Yep, frustrating and a bit pointless but each state has their own rego body. I've had Qld rego and transferred to NT which was quick and relatively painless as they will provide 'interim rego' if you are registered elsewhere and fastrack. Schools often have experience with this and will understand and try to help. The hold up was police checks-they will have to do their own even if yours is recent.

NSW has been frustrating as they won't automatically accept other states and seem to have to go through whole process from scratch including verifying quals. I got terse email from them requesting evidence of my quals from my uni despite having sent in the official transcript of my degree (which has previously been adequate in Qld, NT, NZ, england, Scotland and china... Very frustrating as they would not clarify what exactly they were after, just kept emailing saying my application was complete. Finally after crotchety response from me they sent thru my reg.

I've noticed Nsw reg is not reciprocal with other places such as NZ so maybe they just do things differently down there...?

You'll also have to pay again but in most states I've looked at bar Nsw they recognize yr other reg and it seems to hasten the process. You may also be classes as provisional initially even if you have experience not sure why as haven't looked into that part yet

Also if you have a job offer it is worth seeing if the school can put in acreauest to fastback your app
