Hello all!
Some useful info on this thread - thanks!
Sniffydog - where did you get your initial info about sponsorship from Victoria (if you don't mind sharing)? I've been all over their site but can't find anything, though I'm probably just being stupid and there is a massive link that says 'We will sponsor you, Lou' surrounded by flashing red lights!

Some are not real jobs as they have to advertise temporary positions regularly even if they have someone on site who is doing the job perfectly well. However usually if you phone the school they are very up front about this and the truth is that even if they have someone in job doing a good job if you are better then that person may not get re-employed (the life of a temp teacher isn't always a good one).
The reality is though that even whe you take all of this into account, they are short of teachers in the rural or regional areas. Schools are expanding and teachers are moving or retiring so jobs are always out there for those that want them.

What Teachers are being sponsored in Vic? Is it all encompassing or just pre-primary and limited subjects in Secondary?

All teachers are apparently in shortage across Victoria so subjects are not important at this stage. Where we are anyone that wanted a job after completing the course last year has got a job so jobs are out there.
Good luck.

Anyone know the answer to this....
If I have a job offer from a school can I still go on a 457 and be 'allocated' to that school?
