IELTS - Academic vs General Training
I am trying to get 20 bonus points for the Australian 175 visa. To get this I require a score of 8 on the General Training test. But, the teacher assessing authority requires a score of 7 on the Academic test.
Does this mean I need to get an 8 on the Academic test to qualify for the 20 points, or would a 7 suffice?
I have contacted both the teacher assessing authority and the immigration offices to no avail.
I am hoping to score 8 in any case, but just want to know in case something happens and I don't.

To get the 20 points you need 8 in all sections from whatever IELTS you do, be it general or academic. The fact you 'only' need 7 for the AITSL, they will accept anything over the 7, so an 8 will be fine for them.
Its not hard to get 9s on the test, especially if you are a teacher (or one hopes!).

Thanks.
I am sure I can get at least 8's on the test, but was just wondering.
My main concern is the writing test. The other parts I can see sample questions and figure out that I can answer the questions, but I have no idea how strict they are in grading the writing section.
Thanks again.

I have dyslexia and my spelling is quite bad, so this that is the reason I only got an 8 in the writing ( I couldn't be bothered to go through all the hoops for extra time etc), but apart from that, its not that hard imho to score well in the writing - you should be fine, just remember VCOP
