Default CRB checks

Hello, hoping lots of people have done this before and can advise.

I'm trying to fill out the application form to register to teach in Victoria and it asks for a current police check. Now, I've been in my current post for 3 years so mine isn't current. Looking at the CRB website it says that individuals can't apply for CRB checks off their own backs: it needs to be through an agency/school...with a 'registered body name and number'. ... what do you need to put down for this?

Cheers for any help!

If you're working in a School with an out of date CRB you need to ask why, it's a legal requirement. Can get a CRB from local police station I believe. My CRB is updated every two years.

You don't need a CRB- you need a 'subject access' report which you obtain from the police in the UK, and a Victorian police check, which they will obtain for you if you tick the relevant part on the form.

It may seem stupid to get a police check from a place you have never lived, but that's the way it is.

If you've lived in any other country for more than 12 months since the age of 18 you'll also need a check from them

Hereshopping is right, forget the CRB. You just need a UK police subject access form to register as a teacher in Victoria.

Can I just ask a question relating to the Victoria Teacher Registration Form. Section 11 is the Statutory Declaration, but part of it says declared at 'Place' in the state of Victoria - now I was under the impression that I could register with the state before I left the UK so why does it say in the state of Victoria!!!

http://www.vit.vic.edu.au/files/docu..._Reg_A_B&W.pdf

That was the link for the registration form - so you can see what I mean. thanks

Yep- I asked VIT this. Apparently you just cross out the 'in the state of Victoria' bit and write in the place and country where it was signed. I did this and my registration was approved no problem
