457 October Interviews

Ok, thanks for clearing that up then. Although strictly speaking in the UK TRN does mean teacher reference number, according to the GTCE. It used to be the DFES number. It is also the code for Turin International Airport. Could also be Talk Radio Network in USA. Although here it is clearly an Australian reference.

Let's recap:
You two were trying to guess what TRN meant, after a very helpful post from lekklizard. I told you so you didn't have to wonder any more. A helpful act, leaving you more informed about this complicated process (the end of which I am near).
I was then treated to a sarcastic barrage for my troubles.
I replied there was no need. And there isn't.
No one was correcting you, no one said anything bad. There really was no need for any of the sark.
If you find being rude to people who give you information funny - I thank God I have a better sense of humour than you!

hi, i just wanted to say that, (b4 things got heated and this thread got shut down) i think someone has their wires croseed a bit. both roamer and aus bound have posted really helpful posts on this site, for which i am personally very grateful. i would hate to see anyone chucking insults at either of them. chocs away was just trying to be funny , there was no sarc or malice in their comments but i guess i could see how one might interpret them that way. i have been involved in peety mud slinging on this site befroe and have learnt by experience that it is of no help to anyone particually when it gets helpful threads closed down
peace be with you

I dont suppose we are entitled to any travelling expenses for these interviews are we?

I wonder in what way sarcastic, incorrect ramblings are deemed helpful to the questions you had asked?

I'd take it that you slightly over estimate your sense of humour
Offense was not offered yet you snatched it up lol

Thanks for enlightening the forum, just try and chill out a tad when someone cracks a joke.

Gosh lee36 I do hope you were joking when you asked about travel expenses! You are talking about a government department you know - and they might have sent interviewers half way round the world, but I bet they arent doing it business class!
Good luck with the interview - and I suggest a tie with the board shorts just to show you know how to dress to impress!

Chocs and Aus_bound,
I understand you are terribly excited about the application but whether intended or not you were both quite rude. Remember online you have to write much more carefully to create the right sort of tone, especially with people you don't know.
Thanks derekgoforth for the comments.
Now let that be the end of it. (considers lols and PMSLs and rofls here)
Best of luck to you all with the application process - it was a year ago this week that I applied and in a couple of months I will be winging my way there.
So bear in mind it's a long, long road, that suddenly speeds up a few weeks before you go.
Right now - those going in Jan have their medicals done, their shipping booked (my boxes got collected last week), their documents ready and we are just waiting for the Department of Education (DET) to get our Visa numbers (TRNs) from the Dept of immigration and Citizenship so we can do our E-Visa applications.
We are starting to get information from DET about various things which we will need to do during our first couple of weeks and expect to be assigned our posts in the next 3 weeks or so.
It's unfortunate that because of the current economy, some applicants have had to delay their journey due to their house not selling in time.
But DET have been good about it and moved their start date to the next batch.

Hi roamer, how long was it from having your medical to finding out the results? Who actually tells you, is it the docters or immigration department?
#75
The doctor more or less said to me on the day that all seemed OK, but that she couldn't speak for the Sydney office. Immigration only contact you if there's a problem. 6 weeks on and I've heard nothing so I've been told that means not to worry! The DET have to begin (nominate) our visas with DIAC and they can only do this once the medicals are OK'd.
We're expecting out visas to be started any day now so I'd say you'd know within 4 weeks if there was an issue.
