Property here is well over priced, most of the agents we used quoted 30,000 over what we thought, then on top of that they wanted to add their commission which ranged from 2 1/2% to 3 1/2 % and two of those wanted the buyer to pay the same, oh don't forget there is IVA to pay I think it is about 13% but that should be added into the % charge. We went with the price we thought of originally and as we are not in any hurry to sell we will see what happens and take it from there. OH and I are not materialistic peeps and as I say as long as we get near to what we would like we will be more than happy. Have your wits about you when you are shopping and above all always take independent advice and if you are given any paper work in Spanish make sure you know exactly what it says. Happy house hunting.xx

That's right, that's because each agent adds on their cut above the asking price.:curse: and many see it's a way to make even more money, they think seller has said they want this, I have told them commission is this, oh if I add this on they will never know and I get more money. Are they made , do they think people don't check their website to see how their properties are be marketed.

Jeanc,

We are in the middle of buying a new build property, and will need a mortgage sometime next year when its built. However, have you read the thread I started earlier about the stock market prices plummeting in Spanish development and the start of a recession etc?

Mr Teapot is threatening to pull out before we sign anything.

Hi Mrs Teapot, have read your thread about proprty in spain, however I want to buy a home for us to use for many years to come and not as investment, ie to buy and sell on for quick proffit ,so really a slump is in our favour. As I've said before, last year we went on holiday 3 times, there are 5 of us, and the holidays cost us £7,000 just to get there. Then spending money! well for that amount of money you can pay a mortgage and flights and maybe go 5 times!.. I personally think if you want to buy to sell on on completion and make a few thousand on it then DON'T do spain. Buy in Turkey, cyprus, bulgaria, other places that people are going to buy. I still think 10years from now Spanish property will be stable and people will have stopped flocking to maybe bulgaria. What other country can you get a flight every day to from any airport in the Uk? I think spain will ride the storm.
