Working in Spain
Hey,
We are wanting to move to Spain this year. My hubby is a HGV technician (truck mechanic). Does anyone know if there would be work available for him in the Torrevieja kind of area? Also I don't know how taxes will work with what I do. I do typing work from home at the moment, currently doing subtitles for an online company. I am also in the process of getting a TEFL qualification and will be teaching online for this too so this kind of job I can do anywhere in the world as long as I have access to the internet so I was just planning to continue doing this in Spain. I would have to register as self employed then wouldn't I?
Thanks all x

Addressing the first question:
I would imagine that finding work as a uk qualified english speaking hgv mechanic would be almost impossible.

Re: Working in Spain
what about if he spoke Spanish? Trucks are trucks wherever you are in the world so he will know what he’s doing and has 20 years experience. Is it just there’s no truck work there or that he speaks English? He’s willing to do any mechanic work, even mobile really.

To work in torrevieja in this line of work would require fluent Spanish. How could it be done without it? TEFL teaching online is a possibility but I don't think it would provide an income plus you would need to be automino which means a minimum monthly payment of aprox. 270 euros . Working is spain is hard. 40 hours a week is what most people do just to survive. There are few benefits compared to UK. Unemployment in and around Torrevieja is very high even with Spanish so be careful if you think that finding work will be easy.
