Just for the record, I have e-mailed Leica and they tell me that my camera is absolutely fine in Spain, so that's one extra expense that I wont have eh?

You will have to convert to Spanish batteries and in doing so it will be imperative to enroll both your digital camera and ipod in an intensive spanish course so that they are able to interact and function with the native speaking batteries

I believe you have been misinformed!

While I have not heard from my e-mail to Apple, Leica defo said that my camera is fine in Spain, they are happy to send me British batteries for it as well.

As for Apple, they will not reply for obvious reasons!
Leica on the other hand are playing a dangerous game by supplying you British batteries! Have you told them that you will be using these British batteries in Spain? This is extremely illegal and if caught you may be prosecuted.
Wondering now if this thread should be moved to Siesta, just in case anyone were to actually take it seriously
