Look on www.comunitatvalencia.com, it is avery informative site and also has the webcams so you can see loads of different areas.

Has your house got mains electricity? Could be mistaken but seem to remember there was a problem with Iberdrola's supply to the area.

No, its a generator, and we're going to be putting i solar, and maybe even a wind generator. They have there wiring all done ready in the house, and there are poles and wires outside but nothing is connected, and o.h sayd judging by the size of the cables it will be a very wishy washy supply anyhow!

something to bear in mind is that in the valencia province most schools have first language "valenciano" which is totally different to spanish. So check on the schools. In Alfaz del Pi where we are ( near Altea and Benidorm) each year has about 4 classes of Spanish as first language and 1 or 2 valenciano(its a big school! with alot of foreigners) But most small village schools cant offer that.

Hi all, well bags are packed and currency in purse, only two days to go, have arranged to meet an estate agent in Villalonga on friday for a good look around, (hopefully, as long as I dont get lost on the way). Am flying into Alicante in the afternoon so all being well, we should arrive at Oliva in time for tea. Have looked at loads of maps, all as clear as mud, I am so used to being the passenger and not the driver, but hey ho in for a penny in for a pound!! Should be fun! How hot is it at the moment, do I need a cardi? Can't wait

Hi all, am back from Oliva, weather was lovely even the day of rain was great. Went and drove around a lot of places, managed 725km in one week, got lost a few times and shouted at my son ( said he was a fantastic map reader, huh! I don't think so!) Met with some lovely people who showed me around Villalonga and the mountains, have seen a fantastic property and now have a million and one questions to be answered on the property. The scenery is fantastic even my 18yr old was gobsmacked by some of it.
Am waiting now to hear back on the property and if all goes ok will go back out and have another look around. Drove to Barx as suggested by Mitzyboy, everywhere appears so lovely.
Had sold my property in UK for 2nd time over the weekend and then the next buyers down have lost there buyers. Its very disheartening, it feels like one step forward and five back. Will keep you up to date, good wishes to all x

Pleased you like the area. I drove to Barx too, earlier in the year and visited El Romeral for a paella. Lovely part of Valencia.

My hubbie and I have been picked to appear on Living in the Sun, filming next month, although we have seen a property we really love we are still going out with them, you never know they may hold the golden key. Can't wait, its only for two days and I know it will be very busy but hey! its two days without the kids, always a bonus

That's cool. How did you manage to get on to the programme - how did they find you?

Hi all, they are filming for the next 3 months so I guess the programme will be shown in the Autumn, but I will get def date from them. I wrote to lots of shows last year when we decided we were serious about Spain and Living in the Sun were the show that got back to me in March, had a telephone interview and then filled in lots of forms about the sort of people we are, what we want, why we want it, what would be the best/worst things about moving, we then did a videotape for them and they must of liked what they saw as they phoned and said we were through. At the time I asked them to look at Gandia/Oliva/Denia so quite a large area. Although as Silverchick is aware we have seen a property near Villalonga that we are interested in but there is lots to find out first. We should be going out in the first two weeks of July am just waiting for the dates to be confirmed. Well keep you posted! am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
