I'm already looking at Sax near Alicante but I wondered if you lived in the kind of place I'm looking for
Now I appreciate I'm leaving the UK but I need to take a little of the UK with me. For example, Sky has to come and I understand the ins and outs of receiving Sky and what to do in Spain. I also like my British newspaper(s). I'm more of a tabloid reader (The Mirror) so I need to get my hand on one of these or similar every day if possible. Where you live do you get English papers the same day, the next day or not at all? Reading them online isn't for me. I'd even drive to the airport to get one! Am I mad?
I need fast internet access as my life is run on the net and I need to feel secure by having some fellow Brits nearby.
Living on the beach isn't a must for me, I know that inland there's better deals to be had but I'd still like to be 30 mins to 45 mins away from some nightlife for the odd pint and bit of music. I know it's sad but that's what I've always liked about holidaying in Spain, I could always find an English pub and an English cooked breakfast.
I'm not an adventurer but I do want to respect the community I'll live in. I'm learning Spanish and want to put as much into the local community as possible. I'm English but I want to feel a part of Spain and respect local traditions etc. I just don't want to be isolated from the things I like.
Living within an hour of an international airport that flies to the North of England is a must incase I ever need to jet back to England for family reasons. Plus my children live with their mum (former relationship but we all get along!) and they'd be coming over for the school holidays and maybe once every couple of weekends.
Do you think I'm asking too much? Sky's covered, a British newspaper, internet access, some familiar nightlife where I can get a pint and some music plus an hour to the airport?
I'd appreciate some feedback

Hi there, I am curious....... My husband and I looked at a property in Yecla (not far from Sax). He is keen but I'm not so.
We know some Brits who live in the area too, but I too would like to know of some ex-pats in the area before I make the decision. Can I ask why your looking at Sax? and also why your looking to move to Spain.

Hi,
New to this forum, but interested in your idea's, sounds just like me 12 months ago, I wanted all these things, but once you are in place, you soon fall into the Spanish way of life, that is, if you want to.
I moved to Algorfa, it has the Spanish feel, with some English folks, two English bars, one has Sky and good beer, the other is a little classier it does frothy coffee.
As far as buying, well I went to look with some of the big boys, but they did not meet what I wanted by agent to do for me, it was "this is what we have, take it or leave it, can we have your deposit, please." I was fortunate, I found, well met an English guy from Almoradi who sells property in this area and after talking for a while he took me to see a range of properties which met my criteria, ie Golf, Pub, easy access to motorway and airport, he was fabulous, if you want his details, e.mail me and I will send them over to you.

Have just read your posting. We moved here 2 years ago. We live between Malaga and Antequera. Our house is up in the hills but only about 15 minutes from the A45 motorway and 20 minutes from Malaga Airport. We have all the things you need within easy distance and there is quite a thriving english community which is quite spread out -the villages surrounding us are totally spanish if you see what I mean. There is a large National Park near us and you can drive into Malaga through the mountains or along the Motorway. Your choice. It's lovely here, if you are interested I too could email you an english estate agent's details in this area.

Hi Rugbymatt,
I dont know why you bother then if we have just to ignore you, it is a waste of both our time when we could be contructive to those who ask for assistance and I assume you have gone thorugh the purchase of a property in Spain so should be ableto give honest advice as I wll do.
