When do the Rebajas start?

The "New Year" sales have already started in many places in the UK. I imagine things are more predictable still in Spain. When does your local El Corte Ingles start their sale? 7 Jan? Or have they been forced to bring it forward?

Good morning, lots of sales already on, Dunnes selling toys 1/2 price and El Corte Ingles had lots of reductions last week Happy shopping !!

I'm going to miss the rebajas season this year, but normally I like to buy my shoes for the year in Spain at this time. The quality isn't as good as it used to be, but it will have to decline a long way before it gets as bad as some UK shoe outlets (the cheap ones; you can still get good quality shoes but at a very high price).

We are moving in to our Spanish property in January and have a fair few bits to buy. Just wondering if Spainish retailers are similar to those in the UK holding January sales?

mmm well I did start a thread already about this. I used the Spanish word "rebajas" though. I'll learn, next time..doh!

Thinking more about it, with the collapse in the pound it'll make sense to take a Ryanair cheap filght back to the UK for the cheapo sales this year. There again, anything heavy and you get clobbered by weight allowances. Grrrrrr.

In our local paper, which covers Almeria, the retailers have been given permission by the Junta De Andalucia to bring the start date of the sales forward and they are starting on the 2nd Jan

Anybody care to list where they have found any good sales in Spanish shops or Spanish online stores?
