Default What's Spain's most congested city?

Turns out to be Barcelona, 17th overall in Europe. Top is Brussels followed by the two Polish cities of Warsaw and Wroclaw. London comes in at number four. The least congested city (at least in the cities analysed in this survey) is Zaragoza.

And according to another recent survey, Paris and London are Europe’s most congested cities! Different survey, different result.

Not much difference, London 4th in one, second in the other. Interesting that the site you quote puts it down to poor treatment of motor-cyclists.

No wonder why other large European cities such as Milan, Madrid, Lisbon or Barcelona are a lot less congested than Paris and London. That’s simply because the use of bikes in Milan, Madrid, Lisbon and Barcelona is not restricted in any way.
I say bring back the horse and carriage to the big cities! (at least it'll help folk wanting fertiliser for their garden!)

Having lived and driven in Barcelona for a year and a half, I didnt think it was very congested at all!

It never took more than 15 mins for us to escape the city at the weekend - and never more than 25 mins by taxi from the airport, at any time of day!

When people talk about congestion, they're normally talking about getting around in the city. Here in London, it's often easy to drive out of the city - in fact the authorities make sure that certain routes normally are kept moving, in order to get the traffic away from the city. However going from one point (say in the north) to somewhere else in the south of the city, can literally take hours.

Last time we flew from Malaga we stayed in a hotel in the centre of town, probably no more than a couple of miles from the airport. We left the hotel three hours before flight time and damn near missed the plane.

Even worse, try coming in from the other side of Málaga in the early morning. It´s a 40 minute drive for us normally, the best advice a Spanish friend gave us was allow 2 hours. Sound advice. Friend of ours didn´t, and did miss his flight.

I go from Benalmadena to Pedregalejo (sometimes through the centre of Malaga depending on traffic) twice a week and its never taken me more than 40 mins

Anyway, I guess the new metro will help with congestion. Although they are digging up Alameda in a month or two, that sounds like serious disruption!
