Whats happened to the post times??

Whats happened to the post times??
This is hard to get my head round. Why has it been change to 1 min ago or 2 hours ago. The confusing ones are 16 or 18 hours ago. I much preferred it saying the time and even better yesterday at 6.15 am. At least then when I come on site in a morning I know which posts I have and havent read.
