What are you using for ID?
Now there are no longer residency cards for EU nationals what are you using for ID. I've carried my passport for the last 6 years but, is there a better way?

We use our English (European) driving licence - that's the one with the photo. Always worked for us.
Just occasionally, we have to produce passports for official stuff (town hall, notaire etc.).

Re: What are you using for ID?
We were already seeing a Gestor about making sure we were registered at the tax office so we asked him to do it for us. We had a silly little medical, played on a driving machine and filled out forms, I think in total it took about 6 weeks for them to be posted to us but cannot really remember. Since we did this I have read on here (a post by Fred) that a medical is not needed.
If you do a search on this forum you will find out more about the process.

Yes - I know it has grown as a common means of ID but as an illegal document you might find it difficult to argue the point if you were challenged that it was not a legal ID

Strictly speaking it is a forgery!
The Guardia have also been known to share this opinion when they are in a particularly difficult mood.
To avoid such an accusation you can get a photocopy of an original document certified (Compulsado) at the town hall for a couple of euros.

What about if the Guardia ask for your passport and you produce the copy ?
