Default What tariff

I know, you must be all fed up of it, but mobile tariffs still totally confuse me here

OK, I have an iPhone. I've got to get it re-unlocked shortly, but I want a tariff that isn't hugely expensive. I dont use the phone for calls that much, but I would like to retrieve my emails from time to time (I know I can use wifi connections if I am staying in a hotel) and a bit of browsing from time to time when I am away.

I dont really care who I use, but probably vodaphone or Orange would be my main choice.

Any ideas to help this befuddled mind?

Sorry Mitzy cannot help, we are with Orange on PAYG but never have the phones switched on except when I am in hospital.

Take a look at:

www.masmovil.es

Web and customer service in English if you need it, and it is on the orange network.

A point to note is that if you wish to use VOIP such as Skype then many providers block this.

Yes I use it and I use skype on it, but better without the video because it occasionally breaks up, and also costs more if you are on PAYG, no problem on voice chat at all for me up to now.

Ahh well. Signed up with them on Saturday. Didn't get an email confirmation as they stated. Can't sign on to the client area with the password they gave, and on the first try so far the phone wasn't answered

I'll try again later

I spoke to them now and they were very helpful. I need to send copies of bank statement and passport before they will send out a sim card unfortunately. The rates are very good

Forget it fo you want cheap comm's in Spain, it simply don't exsist here.

Well I need to access my emails when I'm out and about. 300 mb download on the phone and the relatively cheap calls means I wont pay more than about €15 a month for it, which doesnt seem bad to me.

Skype I use, but I have a phone box now that means that a call via internet to the UK costs me just 1p a minute and I dont have to worry about the crap connection on skype which happens when you only have a small internet connection

We have no landline in Spain, but use a Vodafone PAYG mobile on their AmiAire tariff (can make national calls of up to 90 minutes and pay for only 1 minute after 6pm and at weekends, with a connection charge of around 70 centimos - I think (OH sorts it all out). Then we use Voipcheap to make international calls to the UK, whereby we ring a Madrid number, enter the UK phone number we want to ring, and that counts as a national call so we can talk for 90 minutes for under 80 centimos.

We have to put at least 15€ worth of credit on the phone per month to keep the tariff active, and we have such trouble using it up that we keep offering to let people we know ring the UK on our phone just to get rid of it!

I have another PAYG mobile on the basic Vodafone tariff for the odd local call we might want to make, and I don't think I put more than 10€ a year on that.

Well, unfortunately after at least a week and a half I'm still here waiting for my SIM card to come from Masmovil.

To be fair to them it does seem to be a courier problem, but all the same it's very annoying as I have been without a mobile now for several weeks

I would be interested to know which courier that is.

and yet the Spanish seem to be always on their mobiles. Perhaps we're missing a trick here?
