What are referrals?
Just curious whilst on this subject, what does the term referral precisely refer to under various profiles. I'm presuming it's some form of naughtiness but maybe I'm wrong about that ?

No it's not for any naughtiness, but there's a thought 
It's actually for adding a member's name if they have referred you. So if someone joins and you've referred them then they can add you e.g. "Dick Dasterdly" as the referrer.
