only last week travelling back from Stansted, along with a number of others, I was stopped by a woman looking and talking like Rosa Klebb. Quite obviously too old and wrinkly to be used on cabin crew, which is why she was cranky.
I was told I couldnt take a carrier bag containing my lunch as well as a bag, seems my bag was 1kg over, so I went to the gents, put on a spare pair of trousers and a jumper and then ate my lunch in front of her.
However, because my bag was overweight she took my boarding pass off me until I got the weight down - is that legal ? ?

This is what I'm wondering. I know people say "stay within the rules then" But they seem to find new rules which aren't legally enforceable and they get away with it as none of us plebs can afford to challenge each new rule in the courts. But what gets me is the airport Authorities seem to be too afraid to say no to their high handed antics. And infact are allowing them to stand do the checking at security.

Apparently they are now installing a Naughty Step where you will have to go (without your boarding pass) to repent should you have the effrontery to challenge the rules, now should you actually stretch or break them ..............

Well as I said in a previous answer, I have this feeling in a crevice of my mind that paperwork, tickets and suchlike continue to belong to the 'service provider' eg train company, bus company, etc. However given I hardly go anywhere I can't check!.... just trawled EZY's rules and regs rather rapidly and found nothing to support my idea. It's a mixed issue, though.... expecting to go through with more than the well-advertised limits is one thing. Don't expect to get away with it (though I know lots do - both get away with it and expect to!) but taking someone's boarding pass away is a whole different thing which as of now I can't answer
(hence all the noise)
you are 0.5kg over, they take your boarding pass, and lose it
who pays the £40 for printing a new boarding pass ?

So I will answer my own question---No Ryanair aren't using weighing scales at Malaga. Although todays flight to Liverpool was delayed by 90 minutes before boarding and by another 50 once we had boarded ---- I belive that the French air traffic controllers were to blame for that. After I asked if the air con could be turned on to which the reply was "It's turned on" but there is nothing coming out I said. Ok I will have a word with the Captain said the lady from the cabin crew, and then we had the air con turned on fully.
