Re: Wanted: Rottweiler Dog
Well poshnbecks that was very interesting indeed. For me though they are still a scary dog. A friend has had two cats ripped to death by a dog kept next door as a guard dog. I would rather risk a burglary than keep a dog like that.

I believe you should never leave a child alone with a dog or ever let a child put their face down to a dog. Even the gentlest breeds can be provocked.

Re: Wanted: Rottweiler Dog
I think Rotweillers are lovely dogs, the bad incidents have been where the dogs have been mistreated. The Rotweiller that attacked the young baby had apparently not been taken out for months, I also know of a case where a Jack Russell killed a baby also no child should be left alone with any dog even a lab and they have also been known to attack children. I would definitely rescue a Rotweiller because there are a lot in the Residencias because people dont want them due to there poor reputation which has more to do with the owners than the dogs. Some of the Rotweillers are there because their owners have either become ill or have died or have gone back to the UK and the dog has been left behind, you will see some advertised in the Sur news paper.

Hate to disagree with you there. We have had two many years ago, one savaged my sons arm when he was about 7. The other son was only 5 so he would have been about face height. When the rspca where contacted they said due to the huge inter breeding so many of them are not so good with children, also they are obsessed with food which causes problems.
They have what are called soft mouths and just hold, that is why they are used to retreive in hunting. The child probably tried to pull away and caused the problem. As said before no child should be left on there own with any dog. |

As said before no child should be left on there own with any dog. We knew a Surgeon Lt Cmdr at the local Royal Marine Reserve unit who had a classic black working breed lab (important since show labs are often inbred and have bad hips which can be painful in later life). They were devoted companions. One day the lab tore a great chunk out of the Docs face! He had her put down with regret and could only guess what had happened but thought it most likely that the dog was in great pain perhaps a toothache. You just never know very young chldren should never be left alone with any breed of dog |

Probably going to be told off, for this being in the wrong area. We are looking to buy a dog, anyone know of any breeders for rottweilers, I have looked at sur and the other local paper. Banus, san ped, marbella area. Thanks. ps I know there are lots of unwanted dogs around but this is the breed I want.
You're best asking Pointers vets in Banus otherwise you will probably need to travel to a National breeder such as; http://www.deyolcris.com/sitio/index.php or http://www.rottdopazo.com/ Some of the breeders will deliver, good luck. |

Look. I'm no expert, just talking from personal experience
Staffordshire bull terriers are often placed in the same pidgeon hole as Rotttweilers. My sister has had three of them. She has trained them properly and showered them with love and affection. I have to say each dog has been like a little human. Absolutely fantastic dogs, and the kids throw themselves on top of them, no problem. Never ever an aggressive move. You bring kids up badly they behave badly. You treat and train dogs badly, they are bad dogs and not to be trusted. So its not the dog that's the problem, its the way they are bought up imho |

staffs are my favourite type of dog, i'm thinking of rescuing one. I looked after one for 3 months over here, was all white and used to get sunburn. It was the nicest dog i've ever been with, when i went swimming in the sea it would swim out with me. It used to love playing fetch, wish I could have kept it but it wern't mine :(
