UK 2024 GE Vote return envelope?
#1
I received my UK GE voting papers today. The return envelope states no stamp needed (in English and French) and "Reponse payee" but I'm wondering if Correos recognises this or if a stamp should be affixed?

Yes thats what we did hand them over in person at post office and ask re stamp rather than put them in the box outside. i guess they empty the box every day but i am not certain. They should get back in time .

Thousands fear they will lose vote in UK election after postal ballot delays
Voters in the UK and abroad have either not received their ballots or have been left with too little time to return them

I think it very much depends on where you are registered to vote. I have always found that my postal vote arrives in plenty of time they always remind me by email and post when i need to renew. My local authority in the UK is Northumberland. I have also come across people here in Spain who complain they havent received their voting papers who have failed to re register after 3 years. They thought they just registered once. Also some have registered as overseas voter but then not applied to vote by post. It would be better if we had the ability to vote online but i seem to remember there being a trial with that and it was abused and not secure enough to ensure correct and single personal vote?

UK problems seem to have been due to the councils NOT being prepared for the number of postal vote requests and therefore having to have more printed, but with all the problems regarding voter ID many voters decided that a postal vote was simpler, no ID needed, and also it's the start of the holiday season so many people were going to be away, this may also have affected the overseas voting papers as well. The problem seems to have been with just a few councils.

It's just not good enough. Thousands have been disenfranchised. If it happened in a third-world country they would be accused of election rigging.
Sorry, I forgot that the UK is now a third-world country! It was bad enough to be denied a Brexit vote but this is ridiculous. They should postpone the election.

I have waited 15 years to get back my right to vote and some stupid delays in issuing the relevant documents have screwed up that. The UK really could not organise a piss-up in a brewery!
