Yet another bent MP found guilty.
Amusingly, if he gets a sentance of less than 12 months, he is technically allowed to remain as an MP.

Changed his plea to Guilty I see, hoping for a lighter sentence perhaps?

It's a good result, and maybe the others who are currently pleading not guilty will reconsider.
The rest of the pack of chiselling graspers can consider themselves damn lucky. All the rest of the BTMPs (benefit thieving MPs) were dealt with internally with the worst getting a verbal slap on the wrist and simply having to pay the money back.
Can you imagine if all the people on this board were fiddling their taxes to the tune of anything between 20K and 200 pounds, we were rumbled, and we said to the tax office, "Here, we'll throw half a dozen of them to the wolves, some of us will pay it back, and the rest will promise not to get caught again."
(Sorry, the last bit should have read promise not to do it again.)

I`d really like to see tha tax evading arogant bitch Hazel Blears do time! She really thinks just by handing over a cheque it makes everything okay! If I tried it I`d be behind bars right away.

But apparently most of them did not commit fraud in the legal sense and therefore cannot be charged with anything.
The legal system would be nearly as corrupt as some other countries if we could arrest, charge and send people to prison just because we did not like what they did, albeit not illegal.

As if. Far too many vested interests, I'm afraid.
I know it's not a crime to take the piss and siphon out stuff to which you are not morally entitled, but at least it does serve to remind us all that the vast body politic is formed from people who are morally if not legally corrupt.

Quite right. We must just hope that a) they take out every single one that is guilty of breaking the law, and b) at the next elections they will remember which ones were taking the piss and deal with them accordingly.

A relative of a peer standing trial over his expenses has said he was shocked to learn his address had been used on claim forms.
Lord Taylor of Warwick denies false accounting charges relating to expenses for peers who lived outside London.
His half-nephew, Robert Taylor, told the trial he was "quite angry" to hear his Oxford home had been cited on forms submitted by Lord Taylor.
The prosecution says the peer lived in London and never visited the property.
Former Tory peer Lord Taylor, 58, denies six charges of false accounting, over expenses claims amounting to £11,277 made in 2006 and 2007.
