Although I only have experience of living and working in London in the UK. I moved to the CDS after 2 years in Barcelona and couldnt believe how cheap it was in the CDS.
1 euro for a canya, we ate out last night for 7 euros (ok not very well, but still). Rents are half the price that of Barcelona, maybe one third London prices. Garages fees are very reasonable, ditto car insurance.
The only things that are the same between London, Barcelona and CDS are the supermarket prices, clothes shopping and electronics/handware. Even some things are cheaper in the UK e.g. car prices.
Try sending your kid to an international school in London
Cos I wouldnt want to be sending mine to the local comps there! You'd be looking at £10k plus per student per year

If there are any IT Java folk out there, take a look. It seems Bull are setting on IT people, and not just in Madrid and Barcelona. However, be warned there's a lot of competition

I asked a polite question!
Why would I or many other posters be expected to believe you when all the statistics from the Wall St Journal to Eurostat say different. You will have to believe me that I am not alone in being a disbeliever. I get pm's from others agreeing but they do not like to openly say they are disbelievers.
Didn't this thread start by a link to a report saying that Spain was the second worst place to find a job. Don't you know lots of spanish who can't find work? I do, on the CDS and in Madrid although I cannot speak for the whole of spain, unlike some posters who know absolutely everything about both countries.

I dunno about every listed item like for like.
But friends who are coming too stay three days over xmas asked us to get Need for Speed Shift on the PSP for there son here, as it was £14.99 compared to Euro 39.99 in Carrefour.
Now there is a reason to move to the UK.

Well, it sounds better, doesn't it?
I can assure you she is many hundreds of miles from London! UK teaching salaries are easy to check online, perhaps he could link us to the Spanish figures, that seems a tad high to me.

Not really, he said 25k, a quick google search will find you the table of salaries for the various CCAA for 2004, when it was around 24k there (Cantabria).
If you're really interested you might even be able to find a more up to date list, but I don't think 1000€ increase is unreasonable in 4 years.

€7 for 2? That must have been some meal! We might not live there, but have experience of Andalucia, and for €7 it must have been complete carp, no matter where you had this culinary extravaganza! No, don't tell me, it was a 3 course meal, wine included.

You're probably right, but listening to my Spanish teacher from Valladolid, she assures me that the wage she earns at our local school is far better than anything she could earn in Spain.

You're the Spanish expert, but I always though it was "caña"

It's common practice to substitute "ny" for "ñ" where your keyboard doesn't support the tilde character. (Yes I know there are ways around this, and it's in the free beer section). I imagine Cricketman was using a non-Spanish keyboard at the time. I myself at times will use Catalunya instead of Cataluña.

Yup it's a handheld console from Sony. Playstation Portable is what it stands for.
....I really gotta elarn how to merge quotes...
