Default Trip To Barcelona

Has anyone been to Barcelona for a few days and have any suggestions about where to stay. There are a lot to choose from on line, to the point of getting confusing. It would be great if someone can recommend either an apartment, hotel or B & B. Also suggestions about what not to miss!

Hi Barrosa Brit, went to Barca last year for 4 days, had a fantastic time, stayed Here, shop around for a rate here, it is a 2 minute walk to the Ramblas, 10 mins to the port or an hour depending on what you get distracted by on the Rambla, 2 minutes from a fantastic indooor market, 10 min from Plaza Catalunya where you pick up the open top buses for city tours, great way of getting round and pretty cheap, jump on jump off wherever, get a couple of days ticket which is the best deal, must see the cathederal it is awesome( that is not the American awesome, it REALLY is !!) the list is too long to put on here of things to see, just the few things I have mentioned will keep you busy for a day at least, it is hard not to fall for Barcelona. The Hotel I stayed at is in a pretty good area with lots of small restaurants and bars, quite lively and very cosmopolitan, I felt safe there all times of day and night...you will love it. BB

Just had a weekend there in June and booked an apartment through these www.barcelona30.com (Red & Green Cathedral apartment) which was just off the cathedral square and a 2 minute walk to La Rambla. Apartment was not luxury but very practical and in the best part of the city, the Gothic Quarter.
Lots to do and as suggested buy day tickets for the open top tour bus which start at Plaza Catalunya, which again is just a few minutes from the Gothic Quarter, and just hop on and off as many times as you like. Adult ticket was 19 euros for the day.
We got the bus from the airport (El Prat) to Plaza Catalunya cost 4 euros and they run about every 5 minutes.
