It totally depends on what your likes are, it is best to try the area out and see if it fits your lifestyle.
I live in one of the liveliest places, but in a very quiet area of it, so depending on what I want I am not far from either.

Cons: Now very expensive. Locals who know the price of everything however, increasingly, know the value of nothing. Chiclana electrics, or lack of, also too large a Brit-focused community {tin hat on

I would avoid the Costa de la Luz like the plague. The Levante can blow for days... hot and dusty. Not much night life or expat orientated activity. Not much activity for kids who need constant entertaining. No bars with Sky sport, no Irish Pub. Yes a few expats around but they tend to be rather snobbish and unfriendly. It's a bit like rural Suffolk....well most of Suffolk.

Mmmmmmm we have our moments round this side of the coast, and you can see a few of the dudes mainly around Tarifa, oh and not forgetting the nudest beach at Trafalgar
as you travel up the coast you will meet a more refined group of peeps in the La Barrosa area who emulates culture and good taste.

Why are they so in your face about it (perhaps not the best choice of words but) - they stand in the middle of the beach with their hands on their hips turning from side to side so no matter where you look you just can't avoid them. And why do they always choose some of the best beaches?
