Assuming you're British, or have another European passport, there is nothing to stop you traveling to Spain any time you want and staying as long as you want.

What do you have in mind - a hotel, flat, or villa? You have just missed the "winter season" of cheap long-stay hotel offers.

Hi and a warm welcome to the Spanish forum on BE. Myself and Fred James are the moderators for the Spanish forums whilst BEVS moderates Europe. Moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. This is so that members gain the information that they are looking for and find their experiences on the forums to be friendly and worthwhile.

Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderator who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are usually friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge about the issues of living in Spain. I hope that you enjoy your time participating in the forums.

Please let me know if you need any further help.

Go, stay as long as you want, you should be OK with your UK pension, get an EHIC card to cover medical problems, and, if ylu decide you really want to stay, get an S1 form from the DWP and get yourself registered for Spanish healthcare. Don't pay any attention to the negativity in many of the posts here, they really apply to people who are moving and need to get jobs, with your pension you will be OK.

interesting comment mike

So, you're saying retired state pensioners are OK- for the OP should he do the 90 day holiday apartment hotel first, look around till he finds the right place that would bring him back for permanent residency, giving up anything he has back home?

Next , if the OP has the resources even at his age, would you suggest that he buy or rent?

You'd mentioned on another thread that you had bought a place & lived in Spain & for whatever reason have moved back to the UK.

Reflecting back, would you have rented rather than buying?

Would you today (based on the resources & health wise) divide your time between Spain & the UK?

Would have rented instead of buying BUT was very lucky and sold before the crash, just. Several things I would have done/not done in hindsight, rented , yes, not leant money to relatives to get them to Spain, where they stayed for a while, 'trying' to sell their place in the UK and turning down all offers, then pissing off back owing us some €6000 and have now moved and we have no way of finding them again, being ripped off by a gestor for some €8000, he also disappeared without a trace having helped in the house sale and said he would help to get the money the notary retained, we did employ lawyers to try and trace him, but to no avail, and yes I trust the people we retained as we knew them personally.
