Exclamation Travelling without a Passport

Hi Everyone

I'm having trouble getting my Passport renewed, because they keep rejecting my photos. I have just completed my third excecise of sending more photos.

So, what happens if I don't get it back before my travel date. Initialy, I had plenty of time when I first submitted - since returning photos etc is leaving me short on time. In theory, I should still get it back in time, but Spain is Manaña.................

Therefore, would I be able to use my Spanish Residencia to travel to Dublin, Ireland and back to Spain?

My REsidencia has the Fingerprint but my Passport will not - so my Residencia should be more valid in theory.

What do you think?

You can travel to most places in the EU without a passport as they signed the Schengen agreement.

Unfortunately the UK and Ireland did not, so a passport is still needed. You may find that the airline will not allow you to board without a passport.

You could try blagging your way through but be prepared for a problem.

I agree with Fred - I have tried to travel to the Uk with my residecia and they said no. (Fortunately I also had my passport with me).

I also wasn´t allowed to enter Gibralter with it either.

I wouldn't risk it particulary if you fly easy jet you only have to watch the programme airline to see no one ever manages to get through without photo Id especially in these times of extra security.

I asked the airlines the question as to if I could use my residencia and had a resounding no back.

Unhappy Re: Travelling without a Passport

Hello

Thank you for all your help.

We travel in March, so with fingers crossed I will get it back in time.

Travelling Aer Lingus to Dublin. If all else fails I will have to change the flights. But its St patricks weekend and wee want to enjoy it with our friends.

Thanks again everyone for your help.

Yes the only place I ever get asked at all regularly is the UK.

I have in fact though travelled from the UK to Paris and back by car without a passport at all or any means of identification ... proving that it can be done

This is when an ID card would come handy, as you'd be able to travel with it. You can't fly out of the country without a passport but I guess you could drive since there are no borders and therefore noone to ask for your passport..
