Thanks everyone I quite like Me da escalofrios but I'll probably use Iamstu's phrase since I'm in Andalucia and I've heard of short hair like that on your arms and back of neck) being called belos as well.

is this a phrase that actually translates - not in pure language sense but in the sense that a Spaniard would not actually say that but something different

Yes Domino, this phrase is widely by Spaniards.

thanks Stu, I know that some phrases don't "translate" in the meaning sense, just wondered if this is one of them.

How far do you go though?

An English person may say "I'm coming" whereas a Spanish person in the same situation may say "Voy!" If you translate directly the meaning is almost opposite, yet they are saying the same thing!

I would say around where we live, it is the use of the word "pelos" and not vello.

And if it was a man saying this they would not usually use the word vello, as it is a feminine word to describe body hair.
