I hope that the Media in Spain is not putting out allegations of travelling 3 times the speed limit for there own benefit, I really am against unfounded evidence, especially where the media are involved.
The train was running 5 minutes late, in the UK your penalised for being late, is that the same in Spain ?
Safety has compromised it seems

The train is neither an AVE nor a AVANT service, where there is a penalty for running late. On such a long route from Madrid to Ferrol, 5 minutes is really neither here nor there, which makes any speeding causing such a horrific accident so senseless.
It's already the worst rail accident in 40 years in Spain, and the numbers involved are large because today would have been the major festival of St James in Santiago. Understandably the festivities have been cancelled. Thoughts go with all those affected by this tragedy.

is saying the speed limit on that curve was 80kph but the train was travelling at 160kph.
whatever it actually was travelling at this is the first accident on High Speed track.

The accident is horrific enough. Imagine if it had entered the station at such a speed?

spain has a problem over train explosions due to ETA activity but surely that has now stopped

Yes, there were initial reports that it was 'like Madrid', but that seems to have been well and truly disproved. There were reorts of people nearby hearing 'an explosion' but that would, most likely, have been the start of the crash.

There's still a lot of ongoing questions being asked about that one, but speed was believed to be the major factor.
The main power unit seems relatively undamaged, just lying on its side and it was reported last night that the two drivers survived, which raises the question how could it simply be human error with two drivers on board.

The driver admits he was doing 190km/h at the time of the accident

Obviously a big question mark as to why the automatic speed control had not been installed on this very dangerous stretch of line when it was installed elsewhere.
Apparently it's normal practice for the driver to take control to enter the station itself, but on this particular stretch I would have thought it would apply.
More questions than answers at the minute and possibly a number of contributing factors, though many seem to have already jumped to the conclusion that it was solely down to driver error or negligence.
