Towing a caravan

Hi can anybody help me, is it possible to tow an English caravan with a English car on Spanish plates,

i think there are various weight limits for caravans and below 750 Kg should not be a problem. The caravan should have the same registration as the car .Above that limit more complicated , need a separate registration, separate ITV inspection if over 6 years old and separate insurance. .Another issue with the car you must have an ITV inspection certificate which confirms the vehicle has passed the latest test with a tow fitting.

thanks it is probably easier to keep the car on U.K. plates an go back every year for a holiday

If your car runs GB plates then your caravan would be subject to the same laws as you would observe in the UK, once you change the car to Spanish plates your caravan would be subject to Spanish law, this may change when the UK leaves the EU.
As has been said if you (not the car) are planning on staying in Spain for more that 6 months a year then legally you should switch to Spanish plates, this may also change
