Be careful what you ask for
I got a call before Christmas telling me I could have 6 Mb connection for €1 extra a month. I naturally said yes but heard nothing. When the next bill came in it had €138 extra for configuration charges, but nothing had actually changed and indeed still hasnt  Rose:( |

Ouch, did you ever get the money back? I won't mention this to my husband as he called them this morning and thinks he has agreed that we should get the 6mb service for 40,90 per month and stop paying the 4 euros per month for calls to mobiles. This should save us 48 euros a year plus tax so if theres a 'configuration charge' I'm going to be extremely unpopular.

They actually did repay it fairly quickly but I never found out why they made the charge

However have just been looking at their website again and it seems they don't even offer a 3mb package any more. Its 1 or 6 now and 6 is the same price as we pay so I guess we should be asking for an upgrade as well.

Re: Telefonica - Internet Pricing Change
I have just come off the phone with Telefonica and Ricardo Fernadez who spoke excellent English and was very helpful first of all said that the special price was for businesses only. He then went on to say that it was a special promotion for new clients so I said perhaps then I should cancel and go with Vodafone. The reply was in that case phone our cancellation department and they should offer you the new price. However, they will first put through the process of cancelling you within 15 days and send you a letter to that effect. In that letter will be a code which you need to phone and quote to effect the cancellation. It all sounded horribly complicated and I had the feeling that you would just end up getting cut off but Ricardo assured me that at every stage they are instructed to try to keep your business. But this is Telefonica we are talking about!

I have also previously been told that the offers are only applicable for new clients!
When I wanted to renew my car insurance with a very famous insurance company, the premium was increased by the usual annual upshift plus the percentage which was originally deducted at that time as I was a new customer. I feel sure that many firms do it, and I think it's outrageous. I'm moving down in September for good, with the hope that it will be my last ever encounter with the "nodding dog".
