Default Telefonica Internet loss of service

Does anyone live in the Altea (I actually live in Altea La Vella) area and like me has lost their Telefonica ADSL the last 2 Sunday evenings? It stopped working last Sunday evening and has just come back on again. The same thing happened the previous Sunday evening and then it came back on the Monday afternoon. each time there has been a recorded message on the helpline referring to an "incidencia", which they were working on, but no more info.

It looks like it's becoming a regular problem - my theory is that Sunday evening is the busiest time and their network can't cope??

Sunday evening would be the quietest time not the busiest.

It's possible they are carrying out some work in the exchange and Sunday evening is the best time to do it.

Thank you for your reply. Do you know for a fact that Sunday evening is the quietest time? - or is it an informed guess? I don't have any solid information to argue with you but Altea is an area with lots of weekend homes, also in the last couple of weeks the area has (like every year) got much busier with mainly Spanish visitors.

The statistics I looked up showed that, generally, internet usage doesn't vary much according to the day of the week. Maybe it depends also on what type of area you are in??

You are assuming that ADSL usage is mainly by people at home. A very large percentage is business use which of course is least likely on a Sunday night.

No I'm not assuming anything. Statistics show that total internet usage varies very little with the day of the week.

If you have Zone Alarm as security, they recently issued an update that caused problems with windows and caused loss of internet connection, which has been fixed now

In which case that doesn't tie in with your own argument that Sunday is the busiest time.

Our internet certainly slows down considerably on Sat and especially Sunday here Fred. Lot of weekend visitors. Cant say its down to that only, but its a fairly regular thing

I was hoping someone in the Altea area could tell me if they had suffered the same loss of service as me??

Slowing down is not Petew's problem - it is total loss of service. Contention can cause it to slow right down but it shouldn't cause disconnection for many hours.

The only time I have had a loss of service there has always been a reportable fault or they have been carrying out work on the system.

Yes I realise that, I was just pointing out that we do receive some diminishment of service at weekends.
