Telefonica. Don't you just love em.
We moved home in the middle of march and I phoned Telefonica to transfer the line and internet into the new place. They told me it would be a 95% chance I would get the same phone number. Anyway as it happened they phoned me up 2 weeks later telling me that I cannot get the same number but they were not going to charge me the 50 euros to transfer the line.
This morning I have had 2 payments taken out of my bank from 2 different telephone numbers, my old one and my new one. The bill from my old telephone number is for 79euros from the period 13th march-13th april and the new number bill which is 45euros and looking at my latest factura they have given me the promotional perks as though I am a brand new customer,(which im not)
I phoned Telefonica up asking why I have had a bill from my old number and she said the line was still active so basically Iam paying for 2 phone lines and 2 internet connections. You can imagine how mad I got.
Appaarently she is now making a request to cancel my old phoneline for the 18th April and request a refund.
How thick does Telefonical have to be to mess a simple request to transfer a line????
Now what im thinking is, I wonder if I can go into my bank tomorrow, cancel any direct debits on my OLD phone line and request a reverse in payment? I know on certain things you can reverse payment within 14 days.
I know the Telefonica woman is putting in a refund request as it is but how long is that going to take and do I really trust them after already messing such a simple request up.
Thoughts and advise?

As soon as our old line was disconnected we cancel the direct debit with Telefonica coz we thought they might try to take silly amounts of money out without us knowing.
Yep they did, 465 euros for equipment that they can't be bothered to come and collect, but our bank didn't pay it, we phoned them and said it is your equipment we don't 't want it so come and pick it up, OK they said.......still waiting.
We were also sent a bill for 23 euro for 2 weeks line and other charges, of course our bank didn't pay that, we seem to have shoot ourselves in the foot now because we can not pay this bill anywhere. Phoned Telefonica and they said take the bill into any postoffice and it can be paid there........errr no, we have been taken off Telefonica's system so have no way of paying, still trying to get it sorted out 3 weeks later

The numbnuts cut us off last year cos they forgot to take a DD payment the month they were on holiday, but said it was our fault for not checking it had been taken, well after all it had only been paid previously every month for about 5 years. :curse::curse:
They gave me two numbers about 25 digits each and I had to quote these and pay the money in a bank and fax a copy of the receipt to Telefonica, line was back on almost immediately. :curse:

My experience of telefonica is that they are totally useless, since last September when I contracted for a special rate for ADSL it has been incorrect every month, I phone up they give me a complaint number and then the difference is refunded around 2 weeks later. It seems that they are incapable of getting the factura corrected. Cant wait for this September when I can change to another supplier

In the Spain Business Brief today on Typically Spanish, the following two paragraphs struck me as being pertinent to thieving.
The British Insurance company which specialises in the travel insurance for the over 50’s, 50plus Insurance, has warned about the risk of travelling to Spain. The company is telling potential travellers of the increased risk of violent robbery and theft, a result of the large increase in unemployment. The statement notes that the number of robberies per inhabitant in Spain is 1,123.19 for every 100,000 residents, compared to just 183.83 in Britain.
Telefónica has beaten the market expectations and its own provisions with a 9.8% increase in its profit, and the company says it is maintaining its objectives.
Experts had forecast a 6.5% growth, but better than expected results in Latin America made up for a poorer performance in Europe. Income was down 1.4% with the recession and a price war in tariffs being blamed.
I then got a bit concerned about the figures quoted. And what are the objectives?

Hello - who are you changing to in September. Just read an article about alternative suppliers - JAZZTEL and Orange amongst others - but can't find out too much about them and whether or not they operate here in Jaen. I am so tired of Telefonica. After one disgraceful episode I contacted the minister responsible for telecommunications within the EU who simply replied that there are 'a number of alternative suppliers of telephone and Internet services in Spain and therefore we cannot regard Telefonica as a monopoly under the terms of such a position within the EU' and left it at that. Look forward to hearing from you.

Jo-Ann, do you have to use telephonica's landline to subscribe to ya.com & what are their charges for telephone calls & ASDL? Have they got an English site?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Yes you still need the telefonica land line, When I changed to ADSL from dial up with telefonica someone set it all up for me, I don't think they have an English site but when I changed back to Telefonica as they were doing a special promotion, someone then called me from Ya.Com and spoke in English to try and get me to stay at a much lower rate including the telephone (Spanish) calls, unfortunately it was to late, so I have to stay for the year with Telefonica. But unless they get their act together I will be looking to change when the year is up.
