Apart from the 3rd point. Yes they carry a plastic sheet with all the tariiffs on. However, if you are doing a longer run, the town may not appear on the list and the driver could theoretically overcharge.

There are still rip-off taxis around. Spanish friends from Madrid been ripped off or perhaps "overcharged" would be better.
In Sevilla or Madrid, going the long route is not unusual. I´ve heard countless stories.
Having done a lot of travelling with my job I can ensure you that Spanish taxis are one of the better examples I've come across although definitely not perfect. I've been ripped off or taken the long route in London, Oslo, Amsterdam, Brussels and Madrid.

If you really want to be ripped off or injured then choose one of the unlicensed British cabs in Spain, that will definitely increase your chances.

probably all over the world.

I´m just speaking from personal experience. I have caught taxis with English friends and been taken the long route, only when I pipe up in Spanish and ask them where they are going ( I am bilingual)do they suddenly seem to wake up...

My point is that many taxi drivers in Spain, and yes London, Paris, New York and Outer Mongolia should in general not be trusted.

Thank you for your thoughts, but my head is far from my arse.

My posts 13-15-17-23-26-28 were ok then, it was just the truth in post 20 that got up your nose a bit then ?

Seriously, be sympathetic yourself and think about the consequences before going in an illegal taxi, for your family if not your self.

I agree, plus it affects hard working Spanish drivers too. They have had to purchase permits and get the vehicles checked run thought hoops and god knows what else to keep in business.
