Our ancient ancestors did it because they were bored because television hadnt been invented, or to identify different tribes in an emerging society, I thought we were trying to drag ouselves out of the wearing of blue woad into the 21st century. Personaly I have quite a few large tattoos and I like them. I paid a hell of a lot of money to have them done by top artists and they weren't done out of any inadequacy and the only one I regret is the name of my ex, was a stupid idea at the time and I will have it laser removed some time soon. |

As to the reason why I got my tattoos it was simpley a case of I saw one I really liked and if I like something, I like it. I'm not an undesicive person who spends 1 hour walking around a clothes shop trying to decide on what I may or may not like. If I see something that's right for me I'll know it instantly and can spend hours walking into clothes shops but only spend 1 minute or so in each until I find the item that's right for me so I knew I would allways like the tattoos I chose. My tattoos are kind of an extension of my personality and whilst others may find them curious I know what they signify to me. All my tattoos follow along the same theme. The only way you would know I had any is if I'm wearing shorts or a T-shirt. |

Quite agree, to me it's deliberate disfigurement of their own body or skin they were born with and all tattooes except the tiniest most delicate ones look obnoxious, but as you say, each to their own.
