Thanks for the feedback here. I'll pass all info on.
In summary; if the dog has been, chipped, vaccinated, passported and wormed (within 48 hours of travel) there's no reason why they shouldn't travel by car and ferry with problems.
Do you have to pay extra if taking a dog on a ferry?

sorry i seemed to have joined this thread halfway through and cannot load the whole thread.
We are bringing our dog from the UK to belgium and had her, chipped, vacinated against rabies and had the blood tests come back as ok.
to take her to belgium we just pay £30 on the eurotunnel and drive through.
To come back to the UK we need to pay £30 again to travel on the train, visit a vet in Belgium 48 hours before travelling to re-worm her and then declare her at the pet ID centre at Calais before checking into the tunnel.
They then check the documentation, check the chip and stamp her doggy papers.
Note, boosters and yearly blood tests are required to bring the dog straight back to the UK .. otherwise you run the risk of 6 months quarantine.

I took a dog back to the UK for a friend a couple of years ago, drove up through Spain and France, Brittany Ferries to Poole.
You have between 24 and 48 hours from treatment and issue of the paperwork from a vet in the passport scheme to get your dog checked in on the ferry, so you have to time your drive right. The staff at the ferry terminals in France were very hot on checking all the paperwork, chip details etc (tip: check and double check it all yourself - our vet had missed a digit off the microchip number when transcribing it, resulting in frantic phone calls to the vet in Spain and heated conversations in French and Spanish!). On arrival at Poole, the staff didn't check any of the paperwork or the dog (but obviously are likely to). Yes, the dog costs extra. Probably more strict at the Chunnel.

Thanks again for all the info.
Anyone have any idea about the costs of flying a dog back to the UK from Spain?
