Taking Dogs Back to the UK?
I've read the link to easyPet in the very useful sticky thread above, however I was wondering whether anyone here has experience of taking a dog back to the UK themselves.
A friend is determined to take an adopted Spanish stray back to the UK, but they're unsure about costs and legal stuff. The dog is chipped with passport. What are the procedures? Thanks. |

the dog needs a passport and an up to date rabies jab and blood test result. The blood test result needs to have been clear for 6 months before entry into UK.
Like if you drive from Spain over a few days you would need to get it done in France before the crossing. |

Bit confused myself over the tick/worming thing. We would be leaving from Costa Blanca via Channel tunnel and driving over. Also what do you do at customs UK side? Anything or nothing. Ie do you have report to any one in Uk on arrival. Thanks. |

Thanks. you have to book declaring you have a dog, when you get there they put you in the que for pet travelers and they check your paper work and scan your dog for its chip if all ok thats it, remember to see your vet to get the paper work done for the worming i think you have to have the dog wormed at least 24 hours be frore travel but check that with your vet good luck Paddy |

It is wormong that has to be done within so many hour of entry depending on wher your going ( it differs between countries ) for Uk I think it is within 24 hours. It is the rabies that has to have a 6 months blood test for. You can get a passport without habving the blood test and you can, i believe, travel throughout the rest of europe with this alone. but to enter the uk you need the blood test result.

Paddy says something about booking your dog in to declare it at UK customs. Does your leaflet give you any information on that? Like booking it in where, how etc |
