But probably still come from the same factory in China (at the same gate prices, too) that are used by the internet spectacle companies that will fill you order for £10.
This thing about sweat and/or acidic sweat is pure bull. But since it's bull that's spouted by someone in a white coat, it is blessed with a sort of authority that it simply doesn't warrant.
It's like complaining that your weeks-old new car is starting to rust and the mechanic saying "well, that's because you drive in the rain". It's merely an excuse for shoddy products.

Well I believe I am qualified to comment here as I have been wearing specs for just over 60 years.
Cheap frames will indeed be affected by sweat, it will of course depend on the person & like Mitzy this used to happen to my cheap items years ago.
I was advised a good few years back to buy Giorgio Armani frames as they were the best & that has indeed proven to be the case.
After 10 years they have kept their shape, never dropped a lens, only had an arm screw come loose once & only suffered very minor sweat damage.
Lenses are like frames & as I also have a complicated prescription I need a quality item.
Here in Spain a high index plastic transition pair of lenses will set you back around 400e (inc all the coatings) So two years ago I went online and found a company in the UK that could supply for around 190 pounds all in.
Had a new prescription done & mailed my GA's off to them, stated that they must call me when they received them to discuss the job (which they did) and they arrived back about 10 days later (super job at a super price)
Econoeyes ?, or maybe Ecomomyeyes from Leicester I believe.
Postoptics from Kent supply my wifes contacts at half the cost here, service is fast and has always been very efficient for the past 6 years. As they are shipping outside of the UK there is no prescription needed BTW, but of course you can easily access this here as well as the eye care needed with contacts.

I use specsavers too and they are brilliant here, you get 2 prs for £129, i hate the blasted things, as i only just needed them as i got older and find i lose, break, bend and even run over them in my car, cos i keep them in my top pocket (just for reading - so when i bend down to check my tyre pressure they fall out)...............i think im gonna try contact lenses now im starting to need distance ones - permiable ones (so my eyes dont sweat on em)
