Sweaty glasses
Took my glasses back to Specsavers in Javea today (which I bought last November) because the screw had come loose in the arm and I couldnt fix it. I had also noticed that the finish around the rims had come off, and was now a different colour.
Bear in mind I had another pair of glasses I have worn here for three years which have been fine and not affected by the following Lady in the shop informed me that I shouldnt have sweated on them http://www.spain-forum.com/forums/im...lies/lol_5.gif, and that it is sweat that has caused the finish to come off ... oh and also possibly when I was cleaning them. They are obviously aware that this can happen to their frames, but seems to me that if some of their frames are adversely affected by sweat then there is something very wrong Now I'm not a "sweaty" person if you know what I mean, and the frames dont actually touch my face at all anyway. In fact the only part (across the nose) that does touch my face is fine. So I now know that if I buy a pair of glasses again from Specsavers I must not sweat and if I clean them I must take care to not touch the frames whilst I'm doing it. Worth bearing in mind |

Thats part of the irony of it all I wonder of acid rain would have an effect on glasses. Maybe I should just give up wearing them altogether, keep them in a box and risk ordering the wrong food in restaurants. |

Maybe if you could check on country of origin of the frames, it might provide a clue.
Would be interesting to know how much a time Specsavers pay for frames such as yours. Having said that, I have a dozen or so pair of those cheapy 1 or 2euro reading specs laid about,had some for quite a lot of years, and they all look as good as new. Possibly they are well preserved with all the grease from my fingers......:rofl: |

Specsavers in Javea are muy caro. Best grab a cheapy flight to UK & buy from Specsavers over there, Javea prices equate to 1.5e to 1 GBP & we haven't seen that for 2 years or so.
Funny cos they ran an ad here in the english press saying they had become more competitive - they raised their daily contact lens price this year!!! I load up my hand luggage with UK sourced Specsavers contacts every visit. |

Well to be fair they always did a good job in the UK. I have a complicated prescription, and also have all the bells and whistles.
In fact SS in Javea were slightly less expensive than the UK, but clearly the frames are not as good |

I thought that they were ran on a franchise so service can be different from one to another..I too once had a sweat and frame problem as you described...never did get a solution to it just never wet again to that shop...not SS either.
