Support your local market
As the latest buzz word CREDIT CRUNCH is zooming around the press and television. Do many of you support your local fruit and veg market or do you buy at the supermarket. If you haven't I suggest you pop down to your weekly Veg market and I think you will be surprised at the freshness, Quality and price, We have a local Tuesday market with a small Veg market on Saturday but the taste is out of this world. You will be so surprised at costings so rather than just throwing pre/wrapped bags of veg into your supermarket trolley pop down you local market....No fancy Ads, No overheads, Just good honest non uniform shaped tasty veg. SAVE YOURSELF BUNDLES.I do grow lots of tomatoes but use the market for all other vegetables. Now whilst the wife is shopping where is ahhhhhhh here it is

Re: Support your local market
We also have a Tuesday market in Alcalá La Real, and a small section of it is the farmers selling excess produce.
Boy, oh boy you should see the chilies I got in October for 2 euros! They were fresh picked that morning and......wait for it......over 134 on the branch.
Now my sister bought 5 dried red chillies for £2 in her local supermarket. So if I dried them and put them into little packets and sold them what would I make?
To much to process!
But yes support your local market and the little shops. Britain was once a nation of shops, no they are gone, replaced with "specialist" shops costing the earth.
Spain is full of little shops, use them treasure them they are filled with bargains and you get personal service with a smile - that is unique!

Yes I always like the fresh local produce than those from the supermarkets. I can't wait to live in Spain. I like the idea of weekly markets.

I buy my friut and veg from the market whenever I can. We have some really great markets in this area. And when I get home to England I won't have a problem as my brother has a fruit and veg market in the town with a wide range of produce

I like to buy fresh veg also, but my kids insist on their fruit from Morrisons in Gib. as they cannot stand Spanish apples, pears or banana's.

Apples taste like apples.
Pears taste like pears.
Bananas taste like bananas.
Do Morrisons taste of something else?

No, they're not the same. My kids like the small crispy juicy apples and pears and firm bananas. The only spanish apples I ever see are at least twice the size and softer, more bruisy. And even I notice that the banana's are different.
