Hiya!
Not sure where to put this but am new so hope you will all forgive me!
Me and my boyfriend are moving to Spain (Ayamonte) in 2 weeks time as I am now pregnant and really want to give our little one (hope it'll be a girl!) the best start in life and also because my boyfriend has been offered a lucrative job offer there (which I know is so lucky as I know the economic situation is very sticky there at the moment to put it lightly!) which is great but I am literally tearing my hair out as he is on a last minute extended business trip at the moment and all our stuff has already gone into storage to move out there. Am just getting really itchy feet about the whole thing really - what happens if our stuff gets lost?
If any of you guys can help us out I would be most grateful!
Also am looking for English speaking friends in the area too!
Thanks again!!

Yes it is going directly to our new address in Ayamonte but is going by removal van. We are planning on buying as we want to stay in Spain ideally.

Please make sure you use a reliable company as we found out to our cost, get the insurance company and the details before you leave as they may well be a little shy if anything is lost as we found out. Make sure you do a complete inventory right down to the last nut, bolt, screw as we found out to our cost. Put any valuables in a car and drive them over do not trust anyone even of they seem the nicest person on the planet. Sorry I have very little nice to say about removals companies but then again we got bitten big time and they rely on you not having the money to fight them. Not all removals are the same so spend more and get the guarantees in writing, in triplicate and signed in blood or like us you may well find that a year on we are still finding stuff that has not arrived.
Life throws curved balls but it is heart breaking when they stand there and they call you a liar and even though you can prove you had it, they will still not hand over the insurance documents you have no where to go but spend £200 + an hour and seek legal advice to be told it could cost up to £10/15,000 through the courts, by then they declare bankrupt and you get well and truly sc****d

I lost out too, about 700 quid on top of the 4000 quid cost. Stuff missing and not left behind.
However nice they seem, get references from others who have used them if you can or use a company that may seem a little more expensive but with a good reputation, it pays off.

Hi
Sorry but the important thing is that you still have each other (and a little one). Your goods and chattels are just that; the most important thing is YOU. I completely agree you don't want the insurance money, you want a smooth life etc.
I have moved many times, and always something will get broken or lost, albeit not everything. Get a grip - you are heading off to paradise; there may be a few hiccups along the way, but as you bounce your grandchild on you knee and look back at this time, you will have many stories to tell whether or not the removers lost / stole / broke your most precious things.
Good luck and I hope it all does go smoothly - but if it doesn't then rise above the stress - it will it come out in the wash
