well I am phobic about these creatures, the bigger they are, the worse I am!! Of course OH is telling me there will be *largish* spiders in Spain probably due to the climate and I have told him he's talking rubbish....
He is isn't he?

The one thing I like about living here is no spiders, but, inland there are big ones

I see plenty here and have seen a few big ones but no bigger than the odd one in the UK.

yeah i think on the coast youre ok. My friend who lived in Coin (in land) was telling me about the size of the things he was fishing out of his pool. Nasty
Ive yet to see anything particularly bad. Other than an oversized well nurished fly in the office and a cockroach skuttling around in my old apartment (thankfully the day i was leaving!)

We had a rather looking nasty spider, like a mini tarantula, only a few weeks ago

When I first came to live in Spain we moved into a villa my parents owned but hadnt used for 11 years - Campo Mijas just above Fuengirola. There was one large one thet came out at night in the bathroom to scare you when you went to the loo, but the worst was this massive thing on the back door.
Of course I did the woman thing and called the brave hubby, who screamed and ran in the opposite direction!
I used a pint beer glass to cover it over, and it was just that bit too small! (did eventually encourage it into the glass which was bagged and taken at arms length a long long way away and never came back)
Then we got a cat!

The spiders in Spain, I don't know any deadly specie. If you want to see truly monstrous, poisonous and deadly spiders you have to go to countries as Australia. The Europe spiders are very good people. Don´t worry

Don't worry about spiders!
To take your mind off it there are bigger, more venomous creatures called IVA, SUMA, CATASTRAL, Patrimonio, IRNR, IBI, all of which might give you a larger bite on the arse!
Spiders, No Pasa Nada!!

Hi thanks for all your replies..guess what i was dreaming about last night?
I just can't get the words "tarantula" "mini tarantulas" and "beer glass didn't fit over it" out of my head now

Sarahchirles I have only heard of IVA and am afraid to ask what the others are!
Are they as bad as £173.00 per month council tax, £50 per week for gas & electric, fuel £1.09 per litre (that's just for starters)

£50 a week for Gas and Electric?? What are you doing? Do you leave every light switched on and use your cooker to heat the kitchen!?
