Default Spanish TV Question

I have a satellite dish and have a freesat box, so no problems receiving UK TV at the moment. (I know things will change but that's a different story)

The question is, I want to receive Spanish TV as there is more sport on there so can you buy a Spanish freesat box for Spanish TV? I know you can get a TDT box for an aerial which is the Spanish equivalent of Freeview, but with no aerial and just a dish is there a box you can get?

Internet isn't an option at the moment by the way.

If you go the dish route:
then you will need the dish aligned to a different satellite than your UK TV satellite is coming from. UK TV comes from satellites at 28 east - Spanish TV comes from satellite at 19 east or 30 west.

there are not many Spanish TV channels available for free on satellite - only local channels like TV Galicia and TV Madrid - see flysat.com/tv-sp.php

There is NO Spanish equivalent of Freesat - mainly as the Spanish broadcasters all operate by themselves and have not formed a consortium to operate a service like Freesat.

The main channels (that you get via TDT) are only available on satellite as part of the canal+ subscription package...

so, unless you want to subscribe for the "non tdt" channels also, it is more economical to get a tv aerial and a tdt box.

but there is an option for "TDT para satellite" if you can prove that you are in an area with NO TDT coverage...but the boxes are expensive

Hi Guy,
Just to say thanks for your help re setting up the TV and TDT box with matching screen formats.
I was able to watch the F1 as well as read the sidetext information for the first time yesterday.

I do the same when F1 is not on BBC but I listen to the commentary on BBC Radio 5.
