we love 'alla tu!' - have never seen the english version, but Jesus
has to be better than Noel!
actually we watch a lot of game shows.....I am so chuffed if I get a question right on 'millionario'
I still find it hard to watch a dubbed film..I never realised how much I watched peoples mouths until now!
the kids watch the cartoons...& I have been known to watch 'a tu lado' & 'aqui no hay tomate'
I especially like the lie detector bit in 'a tu lado'
we do now have a small dish that picks up a couple of english channels (it came with the house) - but mostly we use it to tape things like CSI.....way too technical ifor my spanish!

I like watching alla tu and millionario, love to see if I can translate the questions, ones about spanish culture can be difficult to get the right answer, but I get more right than wrong.

I watch some of the game shows on Spanish TV as they at least help with learning the spanish language, Mira quien bailar on Monday nights can be quite hilarious at times 'Strictly come dancing it is not', and of couse the news again is helpful, you can usually just about get the idea of whats happening, I just wish there was a program where they spoke a bit slower.

We used to get TVE on Direct TV, but now can't get it on our cable...but I guess one of our favorites was 'Cuentame'...probably because the characters portrayed during the time period (circa 1974-75) are the same age as my wife and I. She lived those times...the political turmoil at the the last of the Franco regime- and beginning of the new Democracy.
Do you mean that you used to get TVE here in the US? Do you know what service provider has it (if any)?. I used to watch it in the UK and I so miss it!

I remember laughing uncontrollably last xmas watching a program that I think was called "camera cafe"? Is that still on TV? Even my husband, who could only understand a little bit of the sketches found it hilarious..

that is still on - or was a few weeks ago ...my hubby doesn't speak spanish & he laughs at that too

And I've just realised that nobody has mention the "programas del corazon" are you guys too embarrassed to admit that you do watch them? I'm just curious... I quite like the one with Anne Igartiburu because it only lasts half an hour, I find the others way too long and too painful to watch..

Don't know how up-to-date this is but try this:

Channel: 840
Available in:
DISH LATINO (EDUCATIONAL)
DISH LATINO (FREE-TO-GUEST)
DISH LATINO (MDU BULK)
DISH LATINO (MDU RESI.)
DISH LATINO DOS (MDU RESI.)
DISH LATINO MAX (MDU RESI.)
DISHLATINO BUSINESS VIEWING (PRIVATE)
DISHLATINO HOSPITALITY VIEWING (PUBLIC)

Because they are absolute she-hit, mind blowingly tedious and any show that can make celebrities out of ex-Gran Hermano housemates and that shameless slapper Belen Esteban should be nuked and the channel that broadcasts it should have its licence revoked :curse::curse:

We got TVE thru Direct TV (satellite) on one of the Hispanic plans (lots of other Mexican, Columbian, Peruvian etc channels we rarely watched) but as I recall it was also offered thru Dish network. Both cost about $35 as I recall.

Watched it for the first time last night and you are right Jesus is far far better on the eye than Noel Edmunds. Didnt like how they all crowd around the box to look at the figure before the contestant gets to find out, but will carry on watching it, as we must try to watch more Spanish TV.
We always seem to put on English TV, must be out of habit. Any other recommendations for decent programmes in Spain would be really helpful.
