Malaga airport was like a ghost town when we went back at Christmas. Our local airport Jerez seems to be getting less and less flights. Vueling used to fly to London out of Seville nothing anymore. It won´t be long before Ryanair starts putting their fares up by a lot as they will have very little competition.

Iberia have been having lots of strikes since December. 1000's of flights have been cancelled. Maybe BA will run it down and take over the slots.
When we arrived at málaga mid-december there was only about 6 people at the barrier. Many times you couldn't get through for the crush waiting.

I think BA / Iberia joint enterprise was a marriage made in heaven, with their unrivalled reputations for inefficiency, disruption, strikes and lost luggage.

You come across as a very lonely guy, keen to befriend anyone that says anything that you want to hear, but I'd choose your friends more wisely, back someone capable of joined up thinking. Málaga is an "aeropuerto internacional" not an "aeropuerto regional" so has nothing to do with my statement, "half the regional airports built at huge expense are either closed or like ghost towns". Of course you knew what I was referring to when I said "regional airports" but you're desperate to score points, it's making you look silly. There are loads of regional airports that I was referring to, that have closed, or never even opened, or have literally a handful of passengers, airports like Albacete, Burgos, Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Huesca, Murcia, Castellón etc. The famous "aeropuertos fantasmas"

Best not to believe any of your Spain information, although if I need advice on sheep shagging I will give you a call.

Now that Royal Caribbean has started using málaga as a base instead of just a days stop, it should be a good earner for the area. This is me with my positive cap on

Every week the ship will stock up with a weeks supply of food and drink. Local companies will be contracted to supply it, trucks to deliver. Extra staff to check in passengers. It's a massive earner for the local economy in Miami so a good start for málaga. Also there is the new Muelle1 bar and shopping complex which has opened...anyone been? Opened when we were there and quickly closed as H&S declared it not finished.

Only when it comes to revenue collection. Apparently If you let a building inspector into your house it'll cost you at least 1,000 euros, because, I'm told they WILL find something.

We had flights in and out of Malaga in early November and again in mid December.....there were so many people it was like being at the first day of the sales!

The town will pick up some benefit from hotel stays and cruise passengers transiting the city, but as far as employment goes, many of the RCCL ships on the 'Med Runs' are doing fourteen day trips, and most of them are only working the Med during the summer months. So I doubt that providing a few luggage trolley pushers and some casual check in chicks with a few hours employment once a fortnight isn't going to give too large a boost to the local economy.
But it's a start, and knowing RCCL as I do, I suspect it's a start at negotiating better terms at BCL
