Spain Stinks !

true, it has improved in recent years
when we first came over, I couldn't believe it when I saw a local policeman say nothing when someone let their dog crap on the pavement right in front of him, but now he would more likely hand out a fine
you do still get some ignorant people who let their dogs poo at the base of trees, rather than in the road - but that is an improvement on in the middle of the pavement like it used to be
mercadona even sell dog poop bags now!

It used to be so bad in my UK village, that is was quite possible to walk the 1/4 mile to the post office stepping on dog turds all the way.

In Sevilla city centre a veritable army of bin emptiers and street cleaners emerge every night (at least in the summer months) around 1130, the bin trucks are electric for quietness and the city centre pedestrian streets and plazas get hosed down every night til about 0400 or so. There is also a vacuum rubbish system now in the city centre so rubbish dropped into a disposal point is whisked away to some central collection point straight away. If it wasnt for such fastidious and regular cleaning the stink would be horrendous but apart from the fag fumes, the city is kept remarkably clean.

Close. The real challenge was walking there without stepping on one.
It was completely disgusting.
I always loved the term 'Dog's eggs'.
