Was it Spain or quitting the UK?

Thanks for the advice, I am leaving my ex husband behind with a half share in the former marital home so hopefully if it all goes wrong I can return to the UK and move into the spare bedroom (with current hubby) lol

Nosherlot, I kinda relate to your post cos I left my ex-wife back in the UK and had to give her the whole house and pay off the mortgage too. I dont think there is much chance of my new wife and I crashing out there, neither in the house of wife's ex so I guess our only bolt hole is with one of the kids.
Or take a few weeks and sail home to the UK if we did want to return.
Good luck in your new venture.

Both really...... sorry but you have got me started......can't stand the way British society is going, I feel oppressed by the nanny state telling me what to drink, eat etc, and I hate being filmed by CCTV and the threat of fines for anything and everything, going overdrawn without permission, filling my bin too high, driving a little over the speed limit, being held without trial (there are terrorists behind every tree!), identity cards, the endless questions when banking, paying bills, phoning up utility companies etc. and most of all, being saddled with a huge mortgage for a 2 bed terrace which means that my husband and myself have to work full time in high stress jobs just to break even with no chance of parole with good behaviour until its paid off in 20 years. We are both too knackered to enjoy our brief time off.
Perhaps its my age?
Fell in love with Galicia, stunning unspoilt countryside, fabulous patient locals who are only too willing to take time to help as I try out my awful Spanish (usually with an appropriate mime). Wonderful historic architecture, gorgeous fresh food, cheap good wine, slower pace of life still keeping traditions alive, and a huge house, in livable condition (needs updating), 4 barns, 4 acres of land for less than £70,000 including taxes!
We also have the chance of starting our own business together (bed and breakfast/small holding) and spending quality time together (ok the working hours will be hard and long but it will be OURS)
No contest!!!!!!!!

you could call it "The Happy Nosher", although I feel it would be a better suited name to one of the Clubs you see with the Neon Lights down the road, lol

I like to think that I am heading to Spain for pull factors rather than push but I have to admit the rat race, property cost and climate of the UK is a push for me.
Having said that the climate of Spain is a pull factor as is the Spanish people's ability to be non-conformist. I like that.

Good luck with the move and the new business venture. We have been in spain now for 6 years and run a guesthouse. Hard work not just with the house but also the paperwork...it takes forever to get the licence...and one of the best ways to learn the language when you are doing battle with the local council! But make sure you find out first if you are in an area that people want to come to either on holiday or househunting. No point in putting in loads of work to find out you are on your own! apart from that it´s a great life.

Its as simple as this. I wanted to quit the UK for a hotter climate and Spain is about as close to the sun as you can go without needing visas and work permits
If anyone knows anywhere closer I'd be interested in hearing about it
