Yes we bought at that rate as well, when we sold were only interested in getting our money, in Euros, back, didn't consider the exchange rate as we were just changing to renting, we stayed in Spain a further 3 years.

We just sold a house last week.Itoriginally was for sale at 85k and was sold for 38k. The owners are back in the UK and just wanted it sold. It is a shame but only bargain prices seem to be attracting buyers.

I have a few choices
a/ try to sell/exchange
b/carry on renting, visiting and see what happems in 5/10 years
c/ or walk away and ventures new, which I just wouldnt do !!!! well not at the moment lol thanks for you reply
As Mitzy said ask for a realistic amount for the villa and it may sell, be greedy and you have no chance.

a/ You are likely to be offered something which could be even more difficult to sell.
b/ If you have regular rental income which meets your costs then you are more fortunate than most. The risk is someome trashes your property and with long term rental they don't pay and you cannot get them out.
c/ "Walk away" What do you mean?

PS: It was 1.68 when we bought ours.

Missile,
walk away, well really I ment give away at the price to cover my mortgage but I woulb need tobe really desperate for that
but surely people still want a holiday home or retire to the sun, from uk maybe if pound goes strong, wow unbelievable rate that, well done there.
I am hoping someone would want to exchange as I could auction or rent that out easier in UK.
the house was valued at 300 euroes and now they are up for between 200-220 so what is the bargain price then ? I suppose its whateva u will go as low as,I would rather hang on and use the place n rent when poss.bit of sun is always good

I wondered if you intended hand the keys back to mortgage provider as many others have tried to do.
