Not sure about Spain disintegrating just yet, but this could be heart attack material for Cman and Stevie.

I spoke on here about Spain "dissolving" a few weeks ago. It is a possibility

And there is nothing new about PP politicians and corruption. The two go together. And a lot of politicians from other parties are involved too

Just a thought. If, and I emphasise if, regions broke away from Spain and in effect became independent countries, it's not automatic that they would continue to be EU members. This point was recently made regarding Scotland and the ambitions of its leader for full independence. It was pointed out by EU officials that in such circumstances Scotland could not rely upon automatically continuing to be part of the EU. It would have to apply to join.
Back to Spain though, I wonder if some regions became independent countries and not part of the EU, what would be the legal position of inhabitants of these areas whose residential/work status's are defined by them being part of the EU?
Very much hypothetical perhaps but not impossible.

That would be up to the new government of that region. Europe have said that any new nations will have to join the back of the queue for EU membership

Catalunya now is discussing with PSOE about how Catalunya can become a fully federated state. So within Spain, but fully autonomous. That would require a change of national government of course since this isnt acceptable to the PP

Not sure about Spain disintegrating I have seen the news of people protesting etc. i have just been watching the news and some guy was speaking about Germany and the Southern Med countries etc. He mentioned the likely possibility of Spain going for a bailout but that it would need to fully accept the terms of austerity etc like Greece Portugal etc. He also spoke about the centralization of banking which is required and that Germany although not comfortable with that would have to accept it for the sake of the Euro but would demand massive changes in the Med Countries or pull out of the Euro which he doubted. I think that it is possible that so many conditions and austerity could be forced on the struggling countries that they have no option but to remove themselves. Lets face it Spain as has been said is showing signs of discontent and separation and that's before the EU austerity etc realy kicks in. Could be that to keep the country together the Spanish and other governments have no option but to leave. Maybe that is the plan who knows what is going on. For sure all politicians are trying to save their own skin and that is becoming defficult for Mrs Merkel if she keeps giving their taxes away.

Hi
I have always thought when Spain reaches the precipice, then the military will instigate a coup d etat, and Spain would go to a temporary dictatorship, before stabilisation, maybe leave Eu and return to democracy when stabilised.

This is not as silly or outlandish as it first appears.

regards
Al

Its silly and out of date

The military has no standing in Spain any more. People would laugh them out of the door. Its the bankers who run the country, just like they do everywhere else
