no I'm not
I'm not talking about empadronamiento
that's totally different - everyone foreign or not has to do that
we have to apply for Certificado de registro como ciudadano de la Unión Certificate of registration as a citizen of the Union) using one of these http://www.mir.es/SGACAVT/modelos/ex...anje/ex_16.pdf
as you well know

For the sake of clarity:
The residencia is still the same as it was. The only thing which changed is that it is now a Certificate (which is not proof of ID nor nationality) instead of a photo card which was a legal ID but which ceased to be issued, on applications made as from 2.4.07.

Sorry but you are confusing me by talking about "signing on the residents list." If not the padron then I have no idea what you mean. You refer to the residencia separately, so I assume you do not mean it is that, therefore, I should be grateful if you would tell me what you are referring to (no rolling eyes needed unless you find it necessary).

not all Brits (can't speak for other nationalities) HAD TO get Residencia if living here
but we DO all have to sign for Certificado de registro como ciudadano de la Unión (Certificate of registration as a citizen of the Union) if living here

I have replied to your PM
you are wrong in saying that it is the same
it isn't even called residencia now - it's called what I said in my last post
& WE (my family) definitely didn't HAVE to have it until the law changed in 2007
only non EU citizens now have to apply for residencia
EU citizens don't have to apply for anything - simply register that we live here - which is why I refer to it as 'signing the residents list' because that is effectively what we are doing - signing a register & getting a bit of paper proving that we have done so - & we all HAVE to do it if we live here

I'm not sure whats you are talking about, all I do know is that Lynnxa has been living in Spain for many years, totally immersed in her town and culture, totally fluent and working! If she were to tell me that the sky was tartan here, then its tartan!! lol

Sorry Jo, It was to avoid a disagreement in public that I choose to contact Lynn by private email, so that we can resolve our different understandings and thus not confuse people. I have done so again.

public disagreement is fine if it gets it resolved
the term 'residencia' is confusing - simply because the 'new' system is different & has a different purpose & name

As we are both trying to help and not confuse people, I have again sent you a private email. I therefore have no further public comment.
