tenants there is never any problems with them. PLus since they are only
posted there for a year at a time, they don't get people who won't move out.

I know that UK military rent civilain houses, I wonder if there's a similar
system in in the UK?

The MOD offers hugely discounted accommodation for Service personnel in the form of Married Quarters (MQs). However, the Government sold off all of their MQ estates to a company called Annington Homes in about 1995 and leases them back on the proviso that the military gives back so many hundered a year for private sale by Annington. Predictably, over time, there is now a widespread shortage of MQs up and down the country. A lot of service families are now housed in privately rented homes as tenants as arranged by the local MOD housing office when this happens. It's a bit like an up-market DSS situation. Unless you have a property near a military base thats been forced to handover part of its MQs back to Annington and there is a demand for military accommodation AND you can get on the right side of MOD housing officers, then you have little chance. But, if you're successful - then you'll make a killing. Your property will always be maintained and NEVER trashed and the tenants traceable - unlike some DSS cases.

By the way, hello Smarties mate

I live 180-odd miles away from him, have known him for over 20 years and bump into him on a internet message board! How freaky is that!!

Such a relief We have had a few viewings on the flat but unfortunately the people who want to buy are young and have been turned down for a mortgage (financial reasons) at the last moment so 5 abortive sales in the last 9 months Got a second viewing on Sunday the lad likes the place and wants his girlfriend to see it so fingers crossed

As for leaving a place filthy and damaged, I was brought up to clean throughout before leaving and even the tops of skirting boards do not get missed! So I really don't understand the mentality of some people. There are some nice people who rent (my daughter for one) we were just unlucky.
Fingers crossed for you that it sells on Sunday.....let us know chick.

And you are like me......I have always left places that I have rented as clean (or cleaner in some cases) as it was when I got there.

Just got back from the viewing. The lad who made the offer (£7,500 less than the asking price!) had asked his girlfriend to take a look. She was in and out in five mins, didn't even want to look at the garden but hubby showed her anyway. Then asked why we were selling and how much rent did we get. That was that and then she left. Turns out she doesn't exactly work for an estate agent, as we were told, but is an hairdresser with a weekend job in an estate agents! Now I feel even more fed-up Ah well....let's see what our estate agent says when he gets back to us in the week.

The weather is getting warmer...think it may have reached 7 degrees today Glad it's better weather there for your guests.

We still don't know when we will be moving over to Spain I'm trying to put it out of my mind and concentrate on other things (like watching paint dry ) No point dwelling on something I have no control over and besides I won't be connected to the internet for a while when we get over so I would miss you all on here.....and that's not good!
