Re: Smoking Ban for 2010
Although it’s bad enough for the expat residents to be bombarded with such pearls of wisdom, it must be galling for Spanish people to be lectured on their own country by a holidaymaker who has learnt some Spanish at night school.
If someone calls you a Guiri in Spain, be offended, because that’s what’s intended. It means more than foreigner, something like foreign muck is more like it.
To be recognised as a foreigner by your car in Spain, the bull stickers on the back of your car will give you away every time. If I see one in front of me approaching a roundabout, I fall right back.

Guiri can mean "foreign muck", but it might not do, depends on the context and intention.
And plenty of Spanish people have bull stickers on their cars, it's a sign of Spanish pride, the same reason why many Catalan cars have a donkey sticker
btw I didnt learn Spanish at nightschool, I learnt in in Spain by talking to Spaniards. I've discussed these issues over drinks with my Spanish family and friends

Are you speaking about yourself, because what you have just said is nonsense

You wouldn't be referring by any chance, to the constant state of war and hostility, only occasionally interrupted by very brief and boring outbreaks of peace?
Wonder if we'll manage a peaceful Christmas Day?
Could possibly have a truce, and arrange a friendly soccer match as happened in WW1.
Any volunteers to referee?.............

Its like banging your head up against a brick wall to be honest, trying to keep threads on track. The only way I can do it is by deleting posts, and then people accuse us of over moderating.
Have many of you actually forgotten the thread title?

Interesting that the last 6 posts have nothing at all to do with smoking, but are complaining of posts that have nothing to do with smoking! Try and keep on thread!

Re: Smoking Ban for 2010
our nearest local bar has in the past week or so had an outside 'enclosure' created - you know what I mean - with pull-down blinds & roof - complete with a heater
I hate smelling of smoke so prefer to sit outside wherever possible, but will be able to sit inside if all the smokers have to be outdoors
this bar will soon be doing a brilliant trade I'm sure - they are the only one in the port area with warm outside seating
